AFL Galway – Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure that all members of AFL Galway create and maintain a respectful, safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters.

2. Who This Applies To

This Code applies to: Players, Coaches, Committee members, Volunteers, and Supporters and spectators at club events.

3. Core Values

All members are expected to uphold:

• Respect – for teammates, opponents, officials, and the community
• Integrity – honesty and accountability in all actions
• Inclusivity – welcoming people of all backgrounds and abilities
• Team Spirit – commitment, support, and positive contribution
• Safety – prioritising physical and mental wellbeing

4. Expected Behaviour

Members must:

• Treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times
• Follow the rules of the game and decisions of officials
• Communicate constructively and avoid abusive or aggressive language
• Support teammates and contribute positively to team culture
• Represent AFL Galway positively both in person and online
• Arrive prepared and on time for training, matches, and events
• Follow all health and safety guidelines
• Assist in the running of matches by volunteering to be 'Goal Umpires' and supporting other club activities as required
• Respond to all communication (messages, polls etc) in a prompt manner
• Consistently turn up to training sessions and matches

5. Unacceptable Behaviour

The following will not be tolerated:

• Bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind
• Verbal or physical abuse
• Racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory language
• Intimidation or threatening behaviour
• Damage to club property or facilities
• Bringing the club into disrepute (including on social media)
• Disparaging AFL Galway in any way
• Promoting any other club or league without written consent from AFL Galway

6. Safeguarding and Welfare

• The welfare of all members is a priority
• Any concerns regarding safety, wellbeing, or inappropriate behaviour must be reported to a committee member
• All reports will be handled confidentially and taken seriously

7. Social Media Conduct

Members must:

• Avoid posting content that could harm the club's reputation
• Not engage in online abuse or harassment
• Respect privacy and confidentiality of teammates and members

8. Breaches of the Code

Breaches may result in:

• Verbal or written warnings
• Suspension from training or matches
• Removal from the club

9. Agreement

By joining AFL Galway, all members agree to follow this Code of Conduct and uphold the values of the club.

AFL Galway – Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for, participating in, or attending any AFL Galway activities, events, or competitions, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you should not participate.

2. Participation and Eligibility

Participants must ensure they are physically fit and capable of taking part in Australian Rules Football activities. AFL Galway reserves the right to refuse participation at its discretion.

3. Assumption of Risk

Australian Rules Football is a contact sport that involves inherent risks, including but not limited to injury, illness, or property damage. By participating, you acknowledge and accept these risks voluntarily.

4. Insurance Disclaimer

AFL Galway does not provide personal accident insurance for players or participants. If you have concerns regarding injury, medical expenses, or loss of income, you are strongly advised to arrange your own personal insurance coverage prior to participation.

5. No Refund Policy

All fees paid to AFL Galway, including registration, membership, or event fees, are non-refundable except where required by applicable Irish or EU consumer protection law. This includes, but is not limited to, withdrawal, injury, scheduling conflicts, or event cancellations beyond the organization's control.

6. Code of Conduct

During the sign up process one of the steps requires participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by the Code of Conduct. AFL Galway reserves the right to suspend or remove any participant who breaches the code of conduct, without refund.

7. Liability Waiver

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AFL Galway, its organizers, volunteers, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, damage, or expense arising from participation in any activities.

8. Media and Photography

By participating, you consent to the use of photographs, videos, or other media taken during AFL Galway activities for promotional and marketing purposes without compensation.

9. Changes to Terms

AFL Galway reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any revised terms.
